Bio

I graduated in 1981 at the Faculty of Education, University of Ljubljana, division mathematics and physics. After a couple of years working as a teacher of mathematics and physics and computer science as optional subject, I got employed in NLB as a programmer. Here I obtained additional qualifications and skills in the area of information system planning, project management and quality management. In 2003 I was one of the first in Slovenia to undergo the EOQ quality systems management training course and obtained the EOQ Quality Systems Manager certificate. I shared my knowledge and skills in the area of quality systems management with my colleagues at various meetings and conferences, for which I prepared several articles and papers (INFOS, SZKO, etc.). As a project manager I introduced the first Information System Development Standard in NLB and upgraded it into the NLB Information Systems Development and Change Methodology in force today. I also set up the quality management system in the Information Technology Management Centre in NLB, which has been ISO 9001 certified since 2001. In my private life I spend most of my spare time with my family and two sons, with whom I share the same hobby – car modelling. Here as well, the philosophy of quality helps us achieve extraordinary results. My second passion pervaded with quality is listening to music on cutting-edge HI-FI or somewhat audiophile equipment.

SQLAdria Seminar – Zagreb 2011 Process of Change Migration to Production Environment

In the NLB for many years, especially recently, much attention is paid to the management of IT (” IT Governance “). We strive to systematically upgrade and improve our management system as the foundation for effective implementation of IT processes, high qualification and motivation of employees, cost-effectiveness of IT and, most importantly, higher customer satisfaction with our products and services. In doing so, we rely on international best practice models such as: ISO 9001, ISO 27001, COBIT framework, Balanced Scorecard – BSC and others. We clearly define all the key processes of our work within which the central place occupies the »Development and change methodology of information systems«. One of the major steps of this methodology is definitely the »Release Management Process”, for which we formally define the “Procedure for Introducing Changes into the Production IT Environment.” The operation of this procedure is controlled by so-called “Group for IT Changes,” which is responsible for correct implementation of the defined process from the announcement of the proposal to implement the change, over its treatment in view of interdependence with other upcoming operations and systems, review the prepared changes in the light of different professional services (quality, security, architecture, …), the final approval or rejection of the proposal and finaly a feedback on the effectiveness of intervention performed. Interventions are performed on the basis of an annual calendar prepared. For each activity in the defined process there are clearly defined responsibilities of all participants.
