RTS – Are you making the most of this valuable information?

It’s been well over 10 years now since Real Time Statistics were first made available by a PTF to DB2 V7. Originally they were provided as an optional feature but since DB2 9 they have always been collected and the data is now fully integrated into the DB2 Catalog. The original aim of RTS was primarily to provide data to assist with the management of Imagecopies, Reorganizations and other Housekeeping tasks. While that remains a primary reason for their existence and something every site should be using, the last few releases of DB2 have added valuable data to RTS which can be used for a variety of other purposes including performance analysis and even database index design.
