The purpose of this presentation is to introduce many of the new objects and features from the last couple Db2 for z/OS releases: Universal Table Spaces, Clone Tables, Utility changes, big RBAs/LRSNs, Online Migration capabilities, Utility History, etc. This will be an overview presentation that will leave the attendees wanting to know more.    

There is a lot of talk about DevOps and agile development and with good reason. But what does this mean for a Db2 for z/OS database administrator? In this presentation I will provide an overview of how the process of schema management can be organized with well accepted processes and tools. This will help to optimize the time of scarce DBA resources while safeguarding or even improving the quality of deliverables

A well-established Test Data Management (TDM) ensures the availability of realistic and representative data for testing purposes. DBAs benefit from an efficient test data provisioning process, while developers leverage diverse test data sets to validate application functionality, performance, and scalability, ultimately leading to higher-quality software releases. In this session, we will explore best practices for establishing TDM processes for Db2 for z/OS data. We will review and discuss possible approaches and techniques, including the additional value those with Broadcom Utilities can derive.

This session shares real-life examples how CICS and Db2 for z/OS work together, introducing CICS and Db2 for z/OS concepts and cover ‘How-To’s’ from the CICS point of view. We will investigate why CICS + Db2 for z/OS is the favored option for OLTP processing in High Availability and ‘Resiliency’ environments. Last but not least, we’ll explore options to monitor CICS + Db2 for z/OS workloads and include dynamic dashboarding using Splunk and Elastic.

RESTful API (Application Programming Interface) support has been introduced to strengthen the position Db2 for z/OS plays in the new mobile application era. This presentation will equip the audience with a solid understanding of REST APIs in general and how to apply them to Db2. Administrators will learn how to create and maintain the services while developers will get familiar with the Db2 specifics.
