Db2 z/OS is a powerful beast on its own, but the recent advances in cloud and AI technologies indicate imminent potential for benefits from an external extra push in the right direction, given the right usecases. The main purposes for which a hybrid cloud setup is beneficial involve data integration and analytics. The possibilities are practically endless in terms of how to implement the actual data processing in the cloud, especially given the open format that lakehouse uses. So the main question remains: how to get the Z data efficiently and reliably available for the cloud applications. We will look into Data Gate as the natural answer to that question, given its high-performance load and replication capabilities of Db2® z/OS, IMS®, and VSAM data into watsonx.data®.
Provide overview of mainly open source software and the value it can provide in day-to-day life with respect to turning data into value. In this presentation I give an overview of software and ideas that can be used to get yourself started in exploiting both data and software in your day to day life. Working source code will be provided for you to get started with this.
