Improving application and data availability is a major focus area for Db2 for z/OS development. This session will cover Db2's overall strategy and explain recent enhancements that you can take advantage of today. 

Db2 Connect is supposed to be a well-known topic but it is often not very well understood. This session shows the latest updates to Db2 Connect V11.5 and V12 and presents some of the best practices from conversations and interactions with customers. We cover topics such as installation, deployment, license activation, and configuration, including setting up TLS. In addition, we show why direct connectivity to Db2 mainframe servers is the preferred solution over Db2 Connect Servers, a.k.a. as Gateways.

The mainframe is like the Earth, our beloved home and the place where all the vibrant affairs (transactions) take place. But human curiosity (a.k.a. analytics) has always been opening our eyes to new possibilities. However, sending your data on an exploration expedition in the cloud seems risky. With our technology optimized for loading and continuously replicating Z data (Db2 z/OS, IMS, and VSAM), you can keep your data and your main workloads secure and performant, while extracting additional value from the replicated data through data integration, analytics, and AI.We will look at some real-world examples of what can be achieved with Z data on the watsonx.data and watsonx.ai platforms.

I will go over latest news Data and AI related topics: New features and updates on SQLDataInsights, DB2zAI, IDAA and DataGate. Also, pending our progress on two new products, I will share new around two new exciting products in the AI on Z space that we are building right now and hopefully be available publicly by June 2025.
