This session will cover the latest in Db2 12 Continuous Delivery, including early 2019 deliverables.  This session will focus on the information you need to successfully need to do to adopt Db2 12 Function Levels, and how to use Application Compatibility (APPLCOMPAT) to provide islands of stability for your applications as you adopt new function levels.

A focus on z13/z14, New I/O, new z/OS releases, and Db2 12 exploitation of those capabilities. 

Db2 12 for z/OS is the most recent release of IBM's flagship relational DBMS product for the mainframe. It includes many innovations that improve application performance and lower costs, without application changes. It also includes ease of use and simplification improvements that reduce management costs and improve availability. New application and security features are also included. Along with cloud, DevOps, Db2aaS, and hybrid analytics, Db2 12 provides the basis for continuous delivery whereby new features can be delivered more quickly, in a more controlled way for customers. This presentation gives a technical overview of Db2 12, and offers an update on customer experiences, recent CD deliveries, and the technical strategy roadmap. A focus will be on how Db2 capabilities can be used to help enterprises meet the expectations, and demands of their internal and external customers. 

DB2 11 for z/OS introduces the concept of Application Compatibility to simplify migration. This session will introduce the concept and provide the information you need to know to exploit this new capability to simply your migration from DB2 10 to DB2 11. We will also cover how to exploit this new capability to identify changes you need to make to applications that may be affected by incompatible changes in DB2 11.

IBM DB2 10 has been in the market for 5 years. Many customers have migrated to DB2 10, but have not yet taken advantage of the DB2 10 SQL enhancements. DB2 11 is the new kid on the block, and while many customers are thinking about their migration plans, they have not investigated the DB2 11 SQL functional enhancements. This session will provide information on the SQL enhancements contained in these two DB2 releases and how to take advantage of these enhancements.
