Bio
Damir Wilder is a Senior Consultant at Triton Consulting, a UK based company that specializes in Hybrid Data Management, Digital Transformation and DB2 database and Information Management services for the z/OS and Midrange.
His area of expertise is the Midrange platform (predominantly Linux and AIX, both on-prem and Cloud).
He has started working as a DB2 DBA in year 2000 on the DB2 version 5.0 and have working experience from that version up to the latest v11.5.
He is a certified DB2 v10/v11.1/v11.5 LUW DBA (and hold DBA certificates for several older versions as well).
Throughout this time, he has been engaged on many different projects and aspects of DB administration, ranging from day-to-day DB maintenance, SQL tuning, performance optimizations, backup/recovery solutions, fixpack and version upgrades, to DB modernisation, whole platform migrations, HADR/TSA/Pacemaker implementations and data archiving implementations.

The purpose of this presentation is to describe what Pacemaker is and how it fits into the high-availability end of the DB2 HADR spectrum, how it compares with older technologies such as TSAMP, explain the different configuration options (HADR, Mutual Failover) and their advantages and disadvantages, and lastly – look at some test scenarios and experiences with customer’s configurations.
Objectives:
Explain what Pacemaker is and how it fits into the high-availability end of the HADR.
Compare Pacemaker with older technologies (TSAMP).
Describe the Pacemaker/HADR option and its advantages/disadvantages.
Describe the Pacemaker/Mutual Failover option and its advantages/disadvantages.
Discuss different test scenarios and customer’s configurations.

The purpose of this presentation is to give an overview of methods used in everyday SQL tuning of transactional databases, when an SQL query or a Batch job is underperforming and a quick solution is required. Describe generally available tools in DB2 that can assist in the daily SQL tuning and/or SQL performance problem detection. Describe how to find out what is happening right now in a database. Describe how to gather historical performance data for a database. Describe how to analyse locking issues. Describe how to identify the hottest tables and SQL queries in a database. Show several real-life scenarios of poorly performing SQL and what was done to improve it.

European SQLAdria Seminar – Šibenik 2021 Migrating an on-premise Db2 environment to the AWS Cloud, Part Two: Mission Complete

This is a sequel to a last year's presentation on a then ongoing migration from an on-premise Db2 V11.1 mission-critical database to an AWS Cloud installation. The migration has been completed since, quite successfully and this presentation will pick up where the last one stopped, showing exactly what was done and how, including further lessons learnt and tips for others considering a similar DB2 migration.
