He was representing CA at EMEA IDUG CPC .With SQL/DS was working from 1983, with DB2 started to work in 1989. Started to work for Platinum Technology in 1995 as a consultant for DB2 and DB2 tools. After Platinum acquisition in 1999 works for CA, supporting DBM solutions as well as other mainframe solutions. Was supporting DB2 customers in EMEA: Croatia, Slovenia, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Holland, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Germany, Russia, Spain, Portugal, Serbia, Belgium, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, South Africa . Speaker on numerous DB2 User groups and DB2 conferences. IBM Champion since 2013
Many times there is a question how bad application can influence on the business and what is the cost of it. We should start our design having final performance expectations as our design goals This presentation will address DB2 for z/OS management and tuning.
How to predict performance problem in design phase. This presentation will address DB2 for z/OS management and tuning. Should we start with the SLA expectations in design phase?. We will start with data modeling, database design, testing ... and what DB2 has with ITIL.

Many times if you ask how to fix the performance problem the answer is “It depends”. This presentation will address DB2 for z/OS performance management and tuning. We will start with data modeling, database design, testing ….. and end with performance monitoring suggestions. We will touch areas of application, database and system performance. Some aspects of data quality aspects will be mentioned too.
From Access Paths to Zparms we'll take an alphabetical look at all the things that can have a negative impact to subsystem and application performance During this presentation, you will realise that tuning is actually really REALLY simple....
Full Abstract: CA’s “Mainframe 2.0” strategic initiative is an initiative that articulates what needs to get done to help solve the mainframe professional skills issue. In short, CA’s Mainframe 2.0 focuses on simplifying mainframe ownership by providing products and services that will help IT managers simplify mainframe management. Most notable in CA’s Mainframe 2.0 plan is that its focus on finding ways for less-experienced support staff to “maintain, optimize, secure and govern” mainframe environments.

Full Abstract: Creating indexes on DB2 tables is one of the simplest ways to enhance performance. It is also one of the easiest things to do - you just type CREATE INDEX right? The skill is in knowing WHICH indexes to create - after all, too many indexes can degrade application performance. Unicenter Index Expert from CA makes it easy to determine WHICH indexes are RIGHT for your table. By taking into account statement execution frequency, a set of indexes that are optimized for your workload are recommended. Index Expert will determine the ideal set of indexes for any given DB2 table A number of events could trigger a need to consider or reconsider the current indexing strategy The development or purchase of a new application The discovery of a performance issue (such as might be highlighted by CA Plan Analyzer, CA Detector or CA Insight for DB2) A need for a ‘health check’ of an existing application to ensure that the assumptions made during the database design are still valid
The IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) was first developed in the late 1980s and has become the de facto standard for IT Service Management and the delivery of IT services to the business. There is a growing awareness of this standard among IT organizaions many of whom are now adopting the practices defined by ITIL and as a result are looking for tools to support their adoption of ITIL processes. There is also a growing interest around the world in the adoption of the best practices defined by ITIL for Service Management. This presentation will outline basic ITIL processes and present how DB2 solutions can support those ITIL practices. In some cases the solutions directly assist in the implementation of the processes defined by ITIL, in other cases the solutions provide the support that staff following the ITIL processes would use to make the process more efficient and effective.
SQL Adria is the independent, non-profit organization that gathers relational database users for Croatia and Slovenia. It was founded 1994. and in the same year it has become the regional user group.
